Fun SALT Facts:
— The Ohio Department of Development is committed to bridging the workforce skills gap in the state. Since its inception in 2019, the Ohio TechCred program run by the Ohio Department of Development has demonstrated widespread success by awarding over 53,600 credentials to employees at nearly 1,400 Ohio manufacturers. Brixey & Meyer has helped dozens of companies receive hundreds of these awards.
— Companies and groups should only pay Ohio CAT if they have over $6 million of taxable Ohio receipts each year. Many companies under this threshold think they shouldn’t be paying Ohio CAT. But maybe they should still be filing if company owners are part of a combined or consolidated group due to common ownership in other entities. Brixey & Meyer helps companies figure out the best way forward when it comes to Ohio CAT planning.
— When it comes to sales tax, Ohio does not typically tax sales of food for consumption off the premises where sold. However, Ohio generally does tax food consumed on the premises. Make sure you’re telling your vendor your food is “to go” if you’re not eating it on their premises!
“The team at Brixey and Meyer has been amazing to work with. Relationship is key and we very much value the one we have built together.”
