Ed Ellsasser | Board of Advisors

Ed Ellsasser sits on the Brixey & Meyer Board of Advisors.

Ed is the Managing Director for PrimeGroup Insurance, which is a Hilb Group Company.  Ed started PrimeGroup Insurance in 1999 and sold to Hilb Group in July of 2025. Hilb currently has over 700 million in revenue and a national presence. PGI/Hilb offers commercial insurance, employee benefits, and personal insurance including home and auto. PrimeGroup’s Core Values centers on clients, employees, and giving back in the communities where they do business. PGI has been nominated for many awards over the years including Best Places to Work, Small Business of the Year, Tampa Bay Journal Top 20 Tampa Bay P and C Agency and Health Agency, and the Corporate Philanthropy Award. Ed was previously a partner in PrimePay, which had 500 employees and sold to private equity in March of 2021. Ed attended Indiana University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

Ed is currently on the Chair of the Leadership Tampa Bay Foundation, 2026 President for the Westshore Alliance which is the largest business district in Florida in terms of commercial real estate square footage, 6 year CEOs in Schools Partner with West Tampa Elementary (Title 1 School) and supports the school with art, campus cleanups, field trips for the students, supplies, furniture, teacher appreciation events, started a PTA and much more. Ed is a member of the CEO Council of Tampa Bay and was a past chair of the organization. Ed is also involved with the STAR Network which helps with Special Operation Forces transitioning out of MacDill’s SOCOM to business careers and is a past Honorary Commander with the 927^th Air Refueling Wing. Ed and the PGI Team are proud to support numerous other nonprofits throughout Tampa Bay

Ed lives in Tampa with his wife Laura and has 2 sons Austin and Joseph who are entrepreneurs.  Ed enjoys sports, fishing, and skiing with his family.
